Map and compass skills can be a daunting and complicated subject. Once you’ve grasped the basics, you’ll no longer be following others. You’ll be planning your own walks and hiking new areas you never thought possible!

Intro

You’ll develop navigation skills needed to explore more remote areas and mountainous terrain. Our basic navigation course is an introductory navigation course for people with no experience.  Learn to navigate away from paths and tracks. You'll also learn compass skills and poor weather navigation techniques.

Advanced

You’ll develop navigation skills needed to explore remote and complex mountainous terrain. Over Watch Advanced navigation course is an advanced navigation course for people with basic navigation skills.  You'll develop an advanced level of navigation equivalent to the Mountain Leader award.
